HURRICANE RELIEF ASSISTANCE

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Marion Edwards Recovery Center Initiatives (MERCI) and Page Development, a new house was constructed for a Pasquotank County family who lost their home due to hurricane damage. MERCI's goals are to provide mission and ministry programs that will meet peoples physical and spiritual needs. Inspired by Jesus Christ to a mission of caring, MERCI seeks to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by disaster, poverty, or adversity.

Goals of MERCI:

To help people understand the need for being in mission to the world, what those are and how to respond to them To provide a place for spiritual renewal through hands on experiences of helping God's people. To improve the living conditions of the people of Eastern North Carolina To make homes "disaster-proof" through mitigation standards. To educate the church and the public on how to be prepared for and to respond to disasters To provide an atmosphere for training mission leaders, disaster response workers, and home owners To be a coordinating agency between homeowners and local/and state agencies, and to act as an advocate for the homeowners. To respond as needed to disasters when and where they occur
